While lead singer of The Youngbloods, Jesse Colin Young's legendary rock band took the nation by storm when their single "Get Together" became a worldwide #1 hit and a prominent soundtrack for peace. Although it was his fourth solo album, Song for Juli was Young's first full-fledged effort under his own name. Jesse organized a versatile backup band in which piano, violin, and horns complemented his beautiful tenor voice in arrangements that recalled Van Morrison's Caledonia Soul Orchestra and featured familiar blues, country, and Cajun elements.
